The nature scenery of Cumberland/ Morgan County and the water flowing gracefully down Obed River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you're coming from Harriman it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. When you're paddling down a Cumberland Plateau Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular
destination. The campgrounds here at Obed River are pretty good. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. This section of Obed River is 10 miles long and has
been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-IV section. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Obed Junction to Nemo section is just one of them. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag.

Throughout the summertime months, highs ordinarily are in the 80's at Obed River while nighttime lows are commonly in the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Obed River temperatures sink to the 20's. You'll really wish
for more hours in a day to enjoy all the exciting stuff in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. A visit to Obed River wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Ohmigod Rapids, and Rock Garden Rapids is an inspiring location to stop at while here. Obed River sees pretty high levels of precipitation; March is the month that gets the most rain; the driest month is October.
