If you're coming from Cookevi lle it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The wonderful Fentress/ Pickett County scenery and the cool fresh water beats anything. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The river winds through the Cumberland Plateau Mountains and you get great scenery.
