The wonderful Overton/ Pickett County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Obey River - West Fork have people coming here. Whitewater paddling here in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is a great experience. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature     have people coming from far and near. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. This stretch of Obey River - West Fork in Overton/ Pickett County is 15.5 miles long and it is classified as a class II section by American Whitewater. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the TN 85n Bridge to Dale Hollow Lake stretch is just one of them.
