    Polk County scenery and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. The #2 Dam to #2 Powerhouse section of Ocoee River in Tennessee is 5 miles long and is a class III+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There are a few other stretches in
this river system that can be paddled as well. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The river winds through the Great Smoky Mountains and you get great scenery. Since you're on this site you are probably  
into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Tennessee tend to be more challenging than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners.

Briefly about the general area:
The Caney Creek Trail is a glorious hiking trail near Ocoee River, and Eaststep Gap is beyond doubt a magnificent place to go to. If you love the outdoors you'll love it here in the Great Smoky Mountains. If the weather is wonderful here at Ocoee River, you can go for a hike along the Indian Flat Trail. All through the days of summer at Ocoee River temperatures are commonly in the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's; through the dark hours in the wintertime at Ocoee River temperatures descend to the 20's.
Much precipitation falls at Ocoee River; the month with most of the rain is March while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
