Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Tennessee is often tougher than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. If you're coming from Cleveland it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The nature scenery of Polk County and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these
hotels fill up quick. There's camping available near Ocoee River. The Ocoee #3 to Ocoee #2 Dam stretch of Ocoee River in Tennessee is 5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section of whitewater. There are a few other stretches in this river system
that can be paddled as well. This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip. When you're paddling down a Great Smoky Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more.
Briefly about the general area: All through the days of summer at Ocoee River temperatures are commonly in the 80's

Since you're here at Ocoee River why not check out Pressley Cove, and if the weather is fine, you can go for a hike along the Dry Pond Lead Trail.
