This section of Pine Creek in Scott County is 1.62 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. The river winds
through the Cumberland Plateau Mountains and you get great scenery. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times.
There are no other sections to paddle along Pine Creek than the Close to Toonley to Leatherwood Ford section. The beautiful scenery of Tennessee and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
Briefly about the general area: You are near Jakes Hole while you're here at Pine Creek It's always delightful to visit Rions Eddy. This river is a great place to visit. There's no way someone can get bored here in the
Cumberland Plateau Mountains. If you want to go to some out of the ordinary stuff, go to The Narrows, and don't leave Pine Creek without first paying a visit to O and W Rapids. The high level of rainfall makes Pine Creek a reasonably wet spot; March is the wettest month with most
rain, and the driest of the months is October. Throughout the summer here at Pine Creek, high temperatures typically reach the 80's with night lows in the 60's. Through the winter highs are in the 40's, and overnight lows through the wintertime for Pine Creek tend to be in the 20's.
