The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The beautiful scenery of Scott County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Close to Toonley to Leatherwood Ford section of Pine Creek is 1.62 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V
section by American Whitewater. This stretch is short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The Cumberland Plateau Mountains scenery is wonderful. There are no other sections to paddle along Pine Creek than the Close to Toonley to Leatherwood Ford section. The
campgrounds here at Pine Creek are pretty good. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers.
Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Pine Creek regularly tend to be in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 60's. Highs during the wintertime are generally in the 40's, and night lows through the winter for Pine Creek tend to be in the 20's. It's always good to have
a look at Rions Eddy; The Narrows is an out of the ordinary site to have a look at while at Pine Creek. Be careful coming to the Cumberland Plateau Mountains, you might not ever wanna return back home again. A tour to O and W Rapids will fill your spirit with great feelings,
and Jakes Hole is in close proximity and always tremendous to have a look at. Lots of fun awaits you along this river. Pine Creek gets a great deal of water; the month with most of the rain is March; the driest of the months is October.
