There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so pack your camp stove. The river winds through the Cumberland Plateau Mountains and you get great scenery. Briefly   about the general area: Piney River ordinarily gets a lot of rain; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is October. During the warm days of summer, highs commonly are in the 80's at Piney River. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Piney River are in the 20's.
