The starting point is not too far from Chattanooga, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Tennessee is often tougher than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The Waldens Ridge to Bakewell stretch of Little Possum Creek is 6.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to
be a class V section. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The scenic beauty of Tennessee and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. The river winds through the Cumberland Plateau Mountains
and you get great scenery. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come.

a great deal of rainfall; throughout the month of March you get the most rain around here, and October is when it's the driest. You'll beyond doubt wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the cool stuff in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. Through the summertime here at Little
Possum Creek, high temperatures ordinarily get into the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 60's. All through the winter highs are in the 40's with temperatures at Little Possum Creek dipping down into the 20's during winter nights.
