The wonderful Tennessee scenery and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The campgrounds here at Richland Creek are pretty good. If you're coming from Crossville it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're
in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The Old Dayton Reservoir to Laurel-Snow Parking Lot section is the only paddling section along Richland Creek. This is a short paddling stretch so no need
to bring snacks. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. The beautiful Cumberland Plateau Mountains scenery is an added bonus. This section of Richland Creek in Rhea County is 1.5 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV(V) section by American Whitewater.
Briefly about the general area: This river has so much to offer. A glorious place to
stop by close to Richland Creek is North Pole Gulf. Summertime highs at Richland Creek commonly tend to be in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 40's; nighttime lows during the wintertime for Richland
Creek tend to be in the 20's. Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing things in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. If you're here at Richland Creek, do take a tour to Buzzard Point; Snow Falls is a wonderful local attraction. Richland Creek is a relatively wet place ordinarily
with a good deal of precipitation; through March this area sees the most rain; the driest month of the year is October. Near Richland Creek you stumble on the Laurel-Snow Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail; do put some time aside to spend at Laurel Falls if you're here at Richland Creek.
