The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Sevierville, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The scenic beauty of Sevier County and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Tennessee is often more difficult than elsewhere, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. Lodging is available near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near.
This is an extremely short stretch so no need to bring snacks. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The Third bridge to right above
West Prong confluence section of Road Prong in Tennessee is 0.72 miles long and has been rated as a class V section by American Whitewater. There are no other sections to paddle along Road Prong than the Third bridge to right above West Prong confluence section. The beautiful Great Smoky Mountains scenery is an added bonus.
Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes Road Prong a wet place; March is the wettest month with most rain; October meanwhile is the driest month. Bearpen Hollow is a magnificent place to
spend some time at, and Rainbow Falls is a great local attraction. Summertime highs at Road Prong mostly tend to be in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's, and after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Road Prong drop into the 20's. You simply should have a thing about the Great Smoky Mountains.
