The put-in location is a short drive from Chattanooga, as you can see on the road map further down. The scenic beauty of Tennessee and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. The New Harmony Road to Bridge on Brayton Mountain Rd stretch of Roaring Creek is 6 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV+(V) section. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Tennessee are often more challenging than in other states, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. Whether you're whitewater
rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if
you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. There are no other sections to paddle along Roaring Creek than the New Harmony Road to Bridge on Brayton Mountain Rd section. The river winds through the Cumberland Plateau Mountains and you get great scenery.
Briefly about the general area: At Roaring Creek all through the days of summer highs are in the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down
into the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and night lows in the 20's for Roaring Creek. Roaring Creek is a wet place that gets a good deal of rain; the wettest month of the year is commonly March, that's the one that rains the most; the driest month is October.
Hart Spring is a delightful place to pop by while you're at Roaring Creek, and Polecat Hollow is another brilliant site to have a look at close by. Just can't get enough of the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. While you're here at Roaring Creek you should pop by Hurricane Point.
