The New Harmony Road to Bridge on Brayton Mountain Rd section of Roaring Creek in Tennessee is 6 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV+(V) section by American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Rhea County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day
trip. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. If you're coming from Chattanooga it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the
road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Tennessee are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. This is the only paddling section along Roaring Creek. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. The beauty of the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is a great plus for this river.

is a great place to have a look at close by, and Hurricane Point is very near and is a delightful location to visit. Summertime highs at Roaring Creek regularly tend to be in the 80's with overnight lows in the 60's. Highs through the wintertime are mostly in the 40's; after the
sun is down through the winter temperatures at Roaring Creek fall into the 20's. Roaring Creek is a quite wet place ordinarily with a lot of rain; March is the month that gets the most rain while October is commonly the driest month. There's no way anyone can get bored here in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. A short journey to Hart Spring is always worthwhile.
