In the lower part of the river, New Hope rd. put-in to the fish barrier dam is a delightful short trip of class I river. A interesting point is the Boils about halfway through this trip. The boils is a huge spring. Says Larry Lee

in Tennessee are harder than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The scenic beauty of Tennessee and the water flowing gracefully down Roaring
River have people coming here. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This is the only paddling section along Roaring River. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip.
