If you're coming from Chattanooga it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The Waldens Ridge to Jones Gap Road section of Soddy Creek in Hamilton County is 5.6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV-V+ section of whitewater. Soddy Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Waldens Ridge to Jones Gap Road section is the only
one. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Tennessee you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay
the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. The beauty of the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is a great plus for this river. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.

that gets a lot of rainfall; March is when you get the most rain here, and October meanwhile is the driest month. You are in close proximity to Sims Neck while you're here at Soddy Creek. During the warm months highs here at Soddy Creek get into the 80's. Summer night lows
fall down to the 60's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Soddy Creek dip into the 20's.
