The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. If you're coming from Crossville it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The wonderful Rhea County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large
number of paddling spots. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There's camping available near Stinging Fork. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. This stretch
has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip. This is the only paddling stretch along Stinging Fork. The river winds through the Cumberland Plateau Mountains and you get great scenery. This section of Stinging Fork is 7 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV(V) section.
Briefly about the general area: Don't leave Stinging Fork without first checking out Whiteoak Bottoms, and if you're here why not explore Dead Negro Hollow. Summertime at Stinging Fork arrives with high temperatures in the 80's.
