Pipeline to Suck Confluence section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS IV-V+ 4 miles
The Pipeline to Suck Confluence stretch of South Suck Creek is 4 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V+ section by American Whitewater. If you're coming from Chattanooga it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. When you're paddling down a Cumberland Plateau Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. The Pipeline to Suck Confluence section is the only paddling section along
South Suck Creek. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Tennessee are often more challenging than in other states, so if you're visiting
here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. The nature scenery of Marion County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
