The starting location is a reasonable drive from Chattanooga, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Tennessee is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. The natural beauty of Tennessee and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. This section of South Suck Creek in Marion County is 4 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V+ section by American Whitewater. The river winds through
the Cumberland Plateau Mountains and you get great scenery. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the
river for a while have people coming from far and near. This is the only paddling stretch along South Suck Creek. There's camping available near South Suck Creek. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
Briefly about the general area: All through the warmest time of the year highs here at South Suck Creek get into the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's. Throughout the wintertime
this place gets highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at South Suck Creek are in the 20's. And that's not everything there is to do here in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. Since you're here at South Suck Creek why not go to Ketner Gap It's always glorious to visit
