The natural beauty of Monroe County and the water flowing gracefully down Tellico River make the trip here worthwhile. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This section of Tellico River is 8 miles     long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. The beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains is a great plus for this river. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Briefly about the general area: Just can't get enough of the Great Smoky Mountains. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Panther Branch Trail. Take a hike on the Henderson Mountain Trail; Tellico River is close to Skull Gap which is definitely worth going to. High temperatures at Tellico River through the long summer days are in the 80's.   Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 60's. All through the winter highs are in the 40's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Tellico River fall into the 20's. A large amount of precipitation falls at Tellico River; March is the month that gets the most rain; October is when it's the driest.
