Tennessee whitewater - Tellico River, Great Smoky Mountains, Monroe County Monroe county, Trout Hatchery to Bridge above Bald River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-III     8 miles   The wonderful Tennessee scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Tennessee is often tougher than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling     rivers. This stretch of Tellico River in Tennessee is 8 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beautiful Great Smoky Mountains scenery is an added bonus. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. Briefly about the general area: A large amount of rainfall falls at Tellico River; through March this area sees the most rain, and the driest of the months is October. Near Tellico River you discover tremendous sites like Skull Gap, and the Henderson   Mountain Trail offers hiking at its best. For the duration of the warm months highs here at Tellico River get into the 80's, and the nighttime is slightly colder of course, frequently in the 60's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 40's; after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Tellico River fall into the 20's. Having a pleasant time in the Great Smoky Mountains is trouble-free. There's pleasant hiking along the Panther Branch Trail.
