This stretch of Tellico River in Monroe County is 4.2 miles long and is a class I-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Monroe County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The put-in is not too far from Athens, as you can see on the road map further down. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You can pitch a tent or park your RV
at a nearby campground. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in
nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The wild scenery of the Great Smoky Mountains is great.

high levels of rainfall; March is the month that gets the most rain while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff in the Great Smoky Mountains. On a pleasant day at Tellico River you can take a hike along
the Warriors Passage Trail. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Tellico River; through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's; after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Tellico River drop into the 20's.
