The to confluence with Lynn Camp Prong section of Thunderhead Prong in Blount County is 1.5 miles long and has been rated as a class IV section by American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Tennessee you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The nature scenery of Tennessee and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There aren’t any hotels right nearby
but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is a short paddling stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The starting location is a short drive
from Sevierville, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. Whitewater paddling here in the Great Smoky Mountains is a great experience. This is the only paddling section along Thunderhead Prong. The campgrounds here at Thunderhead Prong are pretty good.

gets a good deal of rainfall; most of the rain falls through March while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Yeah, come up here to the Great Smoky Mountains for a splendid time. What would a site like Thunderhead Prong be without attention-grabbing nearby
characteristics like Devils Bench. Through the days of summer here at Thunderhead Prong, high temperatures commonly reach the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 60's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Thunderhead Prong. The Meigs Mountain Trail is a fine hiking trail next to Thunderhead Prong, and a splendid place is Green Camp Gap.
