The scenic beauty of Tennessee and the water flowing gracefully down Walker Camp Prong make the trip here worthwhile. The Bridge below Alum Cave Creek confluence to Chimney's Trailhead section of Walker Camp Prong is 1.5 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The put-in location is a short drive from Sevierville, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The river winds through the Great Smoky Mountains and you get great scenery. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number
of paddling rivers. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The Bridge below Alum Cave Creek confluence to Chimney's Trailhead stretch is the only paddling stretch along Walker Camp Prong. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Tennessee tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners.

about the general area: Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Great Smoky Mountains. Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a wonderful national park. Walker Camp Prong usually gets lots of rainfall; during March this area sees the most rain, and October meanwhile is the driest
month. Bearpen Hollow is a brilliant place to spend some time at, and do put some time aside to spend at Rainbow Falls while you're here at Walker Camp Prong. During the long summer days highs here at Walker Camp Prong reach the 80's. Summer nighttime lows descend down to the
60's. Throughout the winter the highs are mostly in the 40's; through the dark hours in the wintertime at Walker Camp Prong temperatures fall to the 20's.
