On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. This section of Watauga in Tennessee is 4.9 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This is not the only paddling section     in this river system, there are others too. The campgrounds here at Watauga are pretty good. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Tennessee is often tougher than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
