Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Tennessee are harder than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. to American Whitewater a class IV-V section of whitewater. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. Lodging is available near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are plenty of other
sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots.
Briefly about the general area: Watauga gets a typical amount of yearly rain; through July this area sees the most rain, and October meanwhile is the driest month. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Watauga, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. High temperatures
all through the winter are normally in the 40's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Watauga drop into the 20's. Keller Gap is a good place to visit nearby.
