Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Tennessee is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great
campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The starting point is not too far from Harriman, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The
wild scenery of the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is great. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The Highway 52 to Clear Fork River section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system.
