Rhea
county,
Possum Trot/Alloway Road to Route 27 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III 6 miles
Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. This stretch of White's Creek in Rhea County is 6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III section. The put-in location is a short drive from Harriman, as you can see on the road map further down. The natural beauty of Tennessee and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming
here. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The Cumberland Plateau Mountains scenery
is wonderful. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip.
Briefly about the general area: Roddy Spring is an inspiring place to pop by while here, and you could always explore Back Valley. At White's Creek all through the summertime highs are in the 80's. When the night

Mountains is simple. A short journey to Laurel Falls is always worthwhile; Beech Bottom is a glorious site to take a look at while in the region.
