The natural beauty of Tennessee and the water flowing gracefully down White's Creek beats anything. This stretch of White's Creek in Rhea County is 6 miles long and has been rated as a class III section by American Whitewater. When you're paddling down a Cumberland Plateau Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Tennessee is often tougher than elsewhere, so better not forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if
you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. The put-in location is a short drive
from Harriman, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Possum Trot/Alloway Road to Route 27 section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places.
Briefly about the general area: Throughout the months of summer, highs commonly are in the 80's at White's Creek. Summer overnight lows sink down to the 60's. The cold days
of the winter come with highs in the 40's, and after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at White's Creek descend into the 20's. This is such a wonderful river. A short trip to Roddy Spring is always worthwhile; while you're here at White's Creek, checking out
Kirklen Bottom is a must. You are in the neighborhood of Big Neck since you're here at White's Creek, and Back Valley is close by, and is a great place. White's Creek generally gets a lot of precipitation; March is the wettest month with most rain while October is the month
with the least amount of precipitation. Having a great time in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is painless. Laurel Falls is a pretty place to visit while you're at White's Creek, and some out of the ordinary geology is available here, Beech Bottom is right here.
