Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Tennessee tend to be more challenging than the national average, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The natural beauty of Monroe County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river     if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. Wildcat Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Source to Tellico River section is the only one. Whitewater paddling here in the Great Smoky Mountains is a great experience. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Athens, as you can see on the road map further down. Briefly about the general area: Wildcat Creek is right by the Warriors Passage Trail; do take a hike on the Basin Gap Trail.   High temperatures at Wildcat Creek all through the summer months are in the 80's while nighttime lows are commonly in the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Wildcat Creek temperatures dip to the 20's. Wildcat Creek sees pretty high levels of rainfall; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain; the driest month is October.
