The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Athens, as you can see on the road map further down. The scenic beauty of Tennessee and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. This is the only paddling stretch along Wildcat Creek. The river winds     through the Great Smoky Mountains and you get great scenery. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. The Source to Tellico River section of Wildcat Creek in Tennessee is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV+ section of whitewater. Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Wildcat Creek typically tend to be in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows dip down to the 60's. For the period of the wintertime the highs are generally in the   40's with temperatures at Wildcat Creek dipping down into the 20's during winter nights. A great deal of precipitation falls at Wildcat Creek; March is when you get the most rain here; October meanwhile is the driest month.
