The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Tennessee are often tougher than in other states, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. This section of Yellow Creek in Cumberland County is 2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-V section of whitewater. The wonderful Cumberland County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Yellow Creek are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater paddling here in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is a great experience. A good workout and spending
some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The starting location is a reasonable
drive from Crossville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This is the only paddling section along Yellow Creek. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. This section is quite short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over.
