Tennessee whitewater - Yellow Creek, Cumberland Plateau Mountains, Cumberland County Cumberland county, Catoosa Road to Daddy's Creek section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS III-V     2 miles   The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Tennessee are often tougher than in other states, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. This section of Yellow Creek in Cumberland County is 2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-V section of whitewater. The wonderful Cumberland County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Yellow Creek are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater paddling here in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is a great experience. A good workout and spending     some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Crossville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This is the only paddling section along Yellow Creek. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. This section is quite short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Briefly about the general area: Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Yellow Creek while night lows are mostly in the 60's. Highs through the winter are commonly in the 40's while the cold winter   nights at Yellow Creek are in the 20's. Yeah, come up here to the Cumberland Plateau Mountains for a brilliant time. The high level of precipitation makes Yellow Creek a relatively wet place; during March this area sees the most rain; the driest of the months is October. Yellow Creek is near Jim Hollow which is without doubt worth going to; don't leave Yellow Creek without first paying a visit to Dripping Spring.
