The natural beauty of Presidio County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. This section of Alamito Creek is 23 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section of whitewater. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one,
but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. You can enjoy this section more if you take
your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a pretty small number of paddling rivers. There are no other stretches to paddle along Alamito Creek than the Casa Piedra to FM 170 stretch.
