If you're coming from Austin-Round Rock it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The wonderful Travis County scenery and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Lodging is available near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your
car. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. This section of Barton Creek in Travis County is 5 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There are campgrounds quite near the river where
you can camp. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Lost Creek to Loop 360 section is one of them. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots.
