Texas whitewater - Berry Creek, Williamson County Williamson county, Shell Road to Weir section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II     8 miles   This stretch of Berry Creek in Williamson County is 8 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. There's camping available near Berry Creek. If you're coming from Austin-Round Rock it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This section is long enough     to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip. The Shell Road to Weir stretch is the only paddling stretch along Berry Creek. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The beautiful scenery of Texas and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. Briefly about the general area: Berry Creek gets a typical amount of annual rainfall; the month with most of the rain is May; the driest month of the year is December. Don't leave Berry Creek without first paying a visit to Berry Springs, and the Good Water Trail is a tremendous hiking trail close by. For the period of the warmest time of the year at Berry Creek   highs are commonly in the 90's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 70's. Highs through the winter are usually in the 50's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Berry Creek.
