CLASS II-III 20 miles
I would like information from anyone who has paddled this section of the Blanco. Email to ash_barbara20@hotmail.com Says Barbara Ash
This section of Blanco River in Texas is 20 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The starting location is a short drive from Austin-Round Rock, as you can see on the road map further down. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your camping stuff too.
The beautiful scenery of Hays County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Wimberley to Kyle section is one of them. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to
drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The average Texas whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that.
