The scenic beauty of Hays County and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The put-in is not too far from Austin-Round Rock, as you can see on the road map further down. Getting a good workout and
a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your sleeping bag. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The Wimberley to Kyle section is one of a few paddling sections
in this river system. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. This section of Blanco River in Hays County is 20 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater.
