In order to get to the take out you have to go over or around the only dam on the Clear Fork.   Ya don't want to go over the dam and it's a pretty good trek around it, if you can make it.  You'll reach the remains of an old railroad bridge and can get out there if you don't want to challenge the dam.  Good Luck!  Oh, and there is only one ''whitewater'' experience other than the dam and the

The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Texas are often easier than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the
rivers in this state are not very demanding. The starting location is a short drive from Abilene, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the US 180 to Lueders section is one of them. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other spots. The natural beauty of Jones Shackelford County and the sparkling  
of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. There's camping available near Brazos River - Clear Fork. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
