The scenic beauty of Texas and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. down the page with more info on that. The Slaton to SH 207 stretch of Brazos River - Double Mountain Fork - North Fork is 22 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater. Brazos River - Double Mountain Fork - North Fork doesn't have a lot of paddling
sections, the Slaton to SH 207 section is the only one. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your sleeping bag. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with not too many other places for that. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
