Texas whitewater - Cherokee Creek, San Saba County
San Saba
county,
FM 501 to Colorado Bend SRA Road section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III-IV 9 miles
I've lived on the CHerokee above the 501 put in for 6 years. THe usual flow is 10-20 cfs in a good year. However, I have seen it up over 18,000cfs and it came up 32' in 4 hours back in 2004. At anything over 2000-3000cfs be very carefull of the wire, cattle panels, cable, and barbed wire at what we call the water gaps. There's at leat one at each landowner's property line. In a flood they break and trail downstream and may be invisible till you're trapped....................WT Fleming Says Wendell Fleming
