Texas whitewater, Cibolo Creek Comal Bexar county, Oak Village North to Luxello section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II     18 miles   Monday Sep.27 2010.  Floated Cibolo creek today from cr337 bridge to Sutherland springs-maybe 6 miles.  Put in is STEEP and only for the hardcore enthusiast-75 vertical feet from parking to water at 50 degree incline! Area is remote, do your own shuttle or use a mountain bike like I did today.  There is good parking at both ends of this one.  there was a recent flood and no less than 5 heinous logjams, with portage IMPOSSIBLE!  had to go over     'em. very, very dangerous, not recommended unless you are insane. Steep banks, mostly mud and loamy soft bottom. Very few gravel bars, few places to stop.  In a nutshell folks-STAY OFF THIS ONE unless you are an absolute glutton for punishment.  class I - long pools, some current, 50 percent paddling dead calm pools.  One bright spot-gravel bars contain nodules of high grade rootbeer flint for flint knapping arrowheads. managed to bring home 60 lbs, which was my mission today. Says William Bauer Wilz9 The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Texas are often more forgiving than in other states, so keep in mind that quite a few of       the sections in this state are pretty easy. The starting point is not too far from San Antonio, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your   time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. The nature scenery of Texas and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Lodging is available near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here.
