This section of Colorado River in Texas is 0.1 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. The starting point is not too far from Austin-Round Rock, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Texas is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. This
river system has a few good paddling sections and the Austin Below Longhorn Dam section is one of them. This stretch is very short so better bring some good walking shoes. No need to look hard for hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
The natural beauty of Texas and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come.
