Austin Below Tom Miller Dam section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II 0.1 miles
If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Texas you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. The starting point is not too far from Austin-Round Rock, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The scenic beauty of Texas and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This section is very short so it's not like you're gonna spend
hours on the river in one stretch. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Austin Below
Tom Miller Dam section is one of them. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. The Austin Below Tom Miller Dam stretch of Colorado River in Texas is 0.1 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II section. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.
