Texas whitewater, Colorado River

Lampasas San Saba county, Bend to Colorado Bend State Rec Area section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS I-II     16 miles
The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Brownwood, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you wonít get lost. The Bend to Colorado Bend State Rec Area section of Colorado River is 16 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep
in mind that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other rivers. There are a few other stretches
in this river system that can be paddled as well. The scenic beauty of Lampasas San Saba County and the cool fresh water have people coming here. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. The nearby hotels are a bit away from
the river, but if you donít have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.

Briefly about the general area:
Put some time aside to spend at Gorman Falls since you're here at Colorado River. Don't leave Colorado River without first going for a hike along the Canyon of the Eagles Trail; folks from Bend love to come here. This river is a great place to visit. Gorman Spring is a good local attraction, and there are great places to look at along the Colorado Bend State Park Trail. Colorado Bend State Park is a beautiful site any time of year; Hughes Hollow is another good place to stop by close by.
