Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Texas is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. This section of Colorado River is 16 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camping stuff too. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Bend to Colorado Bend State Rec Area section is one of them. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. The nature scenery of Lampasas San Saba County and the
cool fresh water will make you feel great. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
Briefly about the general area: Colorado River gets a typical amount of annual rainfall; throughout the month of May you get the most rain around here while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This is such a fun river. The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Gorman Spring. A splendid place close to Colorado River is Hughes Hollow; hiking along the Colorado Bend
State Park Trail is great fun. Gorman Falls is an inspiring location to stop by during your stay; you can have a splendid hiking adventure along the Canyon of the Eagles Trail. Summer at Colorado River arrives with high temperatures in the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures
plunge down into the 70's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 50's, and night lows throughout the winter for Colorado River tend to be in the 30's.
