  The wonderful Burnet County scenery and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
    Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. This is an extremely short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The Lake Buchanan Dam to SH 29 stretch of Colorado River in Texas is
1 miles long and it is classified as a class V section by American Whitewater. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.

The warmest time of the year at Colorado River comes with high temperatures in the 90's while overnight lows are ordinarily in the 70's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 50's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Colorado River. There is a pleasant hiking trail close to Colorado River
 
called the Inks Lake State Park Trail.
The yearly rain here at Colorado River is about average; May is when you get the most rain here; the driest month is January.
