The New Braunfels stretch of Comal River is 1 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II(III) section. The natural beauty of Texas and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a     large number of paddling spots. This is a very short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. There are some good hotels near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The New Braunfels section is the only paddling section along Comal River. The starting location is a reasonable drive from San Antonio, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Briefly about the general area: Summertime brings highs in the 90's to Comal River. Throughout the moonlight hours it's typically in the 70's. Highs through the winter are commonly in the 50's, and nighttime lows in the 30's   for Comal River. Panther Canyon is in the vicinity of Comal River and is without doubt a good site to pop by, and a visit to Comal Springs will fill your spirit with delightful feelings. From a precipitation point of view Comal River is a relatively common location; May is when you get the most rain here; January is when it's the driest.
