CLASS IV+     8 miles
  The nature scenery of Texas and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This stretch of Crabapple Creek in Gillespie County is 8 miles long and it is classified as a class IV+ section by American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. If you're coming from Kerrville it's not a long drive at all to
    the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. The campgrounds here at Crabapple Creek are pretty good. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. There
arenít any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Eckert Road to FM 965 section is one of them. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states,  
so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy.

Briefly about the general area:
If you wish for a little side visit, try Fool Gap, and while you're here you can take a hike along the Summit Trail. A tour to Enchanted Rock State Natural Area rejuvenates the soul; on a magnificent day you can take a hike along the Echo Canyon Trail. Coming to this river is always a good idea. Here at Crabapple Creek there are plenty of people from Willow City. Throughout the long summer days, highs ordinarily are in the 90's at Crabapple Creek, and the nighttime is fairly cooler of course, ordinarily in the 70's.
