The beautiful scenery of Uvalde County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. The Garner State Park to Concan stretch of Frio River in Uvalde County is 12 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Uvalde, please print out a copy of the road     map further down the page so you won’t get lost. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The campgrounds here at Frio River are pretty good. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The Garner State Park to Concan section is the only paddling section along Frio River. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling places. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so pack your camp stove. Briefly about the general area: If you're here at Frio River, checking out Seven Bluff is a must; Frio River is right by the Garner State Park Trail. During the warm days of summer   at Frio River highs are ordinarily in the 90's; throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 50's; through the dark hours in the wintertime at Frio River temperatures drop to the 20's. The annual rainfall here at Frio River is about average; the month with most of the rain is October, and the driest of the months is December.
