CLASS II-III     12 miles
  The natural beauty of Texas and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. This section of Frio River is 12 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Garner State Park to Concan section is one of them. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. The nearby hotels are a bit
    away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The starting location is a short drive from Uvalde, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. You might
be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are not so many other good places for that around here. The average Texas whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping  
bag too.

Briefly about the general area:
There's magnificent hiking along the Garner State Park Trail, and Seven Bluff is an interesting thing to observe while you're here. During your spree to Frio River you'll meet some folks from Concan for sure. Don't leave Frio River without visiting Garner State Park. Summertime highs at Frio River ordinarily tend to be in the 90's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 50's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Frio River. The amount of rain that falls at Frio River is close to the national average.
