  The County Road 109 to FM 152 section of Hickory Creek River in Texas is 10 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III(V+) section. The nature scenery of Llano County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There arenít any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill
    up quick. There's camping available near Hickory Creek River. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers in this state
are good for beginners. If you're coming from Kerrville it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so why not pack your camping stuff too.  
A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more.

Briefly about the general area:
Near Hickory Creek River you find the Echo Canyon Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail. A spree to Enchanted Rock State Natural Area when you're here at Hickory Creek River is never a bad idea, and the Summit Trail is a delightful hiking trail close by. If you come to this river you will have a good time for sure. Lots of people from Castell come to Hickory Creek River. An average amount of precipitation falls at Hickory Creek River. May is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month is December.
