The FM 2400 to Pecos River stretch of Independence Creek in Terrell County is 24 miles long and has been rated as a class II+ section by American Whitewater. Independence Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches,     the FM 2400 to Pecos River stretch is the only one. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. Briefly about the general area: Independence Creek is ordinarily a relatively dry spot; September is the wettest month with most rain; January is the month with the least moisture. Throughout the months of summer at Independence Creek highs are frequently in the 90's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 70's. Highs through the winter are commonly in the 60's; winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Independence Creek.
