  This stretch of Independence Creek in Texas is 24 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II+ section. The average Texas whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is the only paddling stretch along Independence Creek. You can
    pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The scenic beauty of Terrell County and the water flowing gracefully down Independence Creek will make you feel great.

Briefly about the general area:
Independence Creek is commonly a reasonably dried up location;
September is the wettest month with most rain while January is typically the driest month. Going for a hike on the Fort Lancaster State Historic Site Trail is always a good adventure.
For the period of the long summer days at Independence Creek highs are commonly in the 90's, and the overnight is fairly colder of course, commonly in the 70's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 60's while the cold winter nights at Independence Creek are in the 30's.
