Texas whitewater - Lampasas River, Lampasas County Lampasas county, FM 1690 to Rumley section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II+     5 miles   I just floated a 25 mile stretch of the Lampasas river from the hwy190 bridge in kemper to the 195 bridge near florence. It was a very scenic trip but the water levels at this time of year is a little low. All in all it was a good float, but the water could have been a little higher. not too much white water and a lot of downed trees blocking the path. Good easy float. but like i said, it needs more water to be a better ride. David Johnson, SGT US ARMY Says David Johnson The FM 1690 to Rumley stretch of Lampasas River in Texas is 5 miles     long and it is classified as a class II+ section by American Whitewater. The average Texas whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many runs in this state are very easy. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The nature scenery of Texas and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This is the only paddling stretch along Lampasas River. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you   glad you came. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. Briefly about the general area: The amount of precipitation that falls at Lampasas River is close to the national average; the month with most of the rain is May while December is generally the driest month. Through the warm days of summer at Lampasas River temperatures are mostly in the 90's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 70's. The winter brings highs down to the 50's, and nighttime lows in the 30's for Lampasas River.
