Texas whitewater - Llano River, Kimble County Kimble county, Kimble CR 310 to Kimble CR 314 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     12 miles   This section of Llano River in Texas is 12 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. The beautiful scenery of Kimble County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. There's camping available near Llano River. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Kimble CR 310 to Kimble CR 314 section is one of them. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking     outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other places. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your camp stove too. Briefly about the general area: Llano River gets very little rainfall; September is the wettest month with most rain while December is the month with the least amount of precipitation. While staying at Llano River you could always look at Big Draw. Through the months of summer at Llano River highs are mostly in the 90's.   Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 60's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Llano River.
