The scenic beauty of Texas and the water flowing gracefully down Maravillas Creek are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other rivers. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the US 385 to Rio Grande section is one of them. Now this is a pretty long section, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. |

Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This section of Maravillas Creek in Brewster County is 33 miles long and
| has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so better not forget that many runs in this state are very easy.

area: Near Maravillas Creek you stumble on the Black Gap WMA Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail, and going for a hike on the Dog Canyon Trail is always a good adventure. Not much rainfall falls here at Maravillas

At Maravillas Creek through the summertime months highs are in the 90's with overnight lows in the 60's.
