  The starting location is a short drive from Granbury, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The nature scenery of Hill County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a pretty small number of paddling places. This stretch of Nolan River in Texas is 6 miles long and it is classified
    as a class II section by American Whitewater. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The SH 174 to Adair Spring Park section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system.
Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The average Texas whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so better not forget that rivers in this state are less demanding.

The Cleburne State Park Trail offers hiking at its best, and a great place like Cleburne State Park is too fine to leave out. While you're here at Nolan River you will meet lots of people from close by Blum. Don't leave Nolan River without popping by Lake Whitney State Park, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Lake Whitney State Park Hiking Trail. Summer brings highs in the 90's to Nolan River. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 70's. Throughout the wintertime the highs are commonly in the 50's, and night lows all through the winter for Nolan River tend to be in the 20's.
