Texas whitewater - Nolan River, Hill County Hill county, SH 174 to Adair Spring Park section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II     6 miles   This stretch of Nolan River in Hill County is 6 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Texas is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. The wonderful Texas scenery and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many     other good places for that around here. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Granbury, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. Nolan River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the SH 174 to Adair Spring Park stretch is the only one. Briefly about the general area: For the period of the warmest time of the year at Nolan River temperatures are commonly in the 90's, and the night is a little colder of course, regularly in the 70's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 50's with temperatures at Nolan River dipping down into the 20's   during winter nights. Nolan River gets a typical amount of annual rainfall; the month with most of the rain is May, and December is the month with the least moisture.
