Texas whitewater - Nolan River, Hill County Hill county, SH 174 to Adair Spring Park section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II     6 miles   If you're coming from Granbury it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The scenic beauty of Hill County and the water flowing gracefully down Nolan River attract people from near and far. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Texas you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so don't forget that many runs in this state are very easy. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. This section of Nolan     River in Texas is 6 miles long and it is classified as a class II section by American Whitewater. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is the only paddling section along Nolan River. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Briefly about the general area: Nolan River is a good spot of normal precipitation; May is the month that gets the most rain, and December on the other hand is the driest. Through the summer at Nolan River temperatures are ordinarily in the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 70's.
