The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The FM 335 to Barksdale stretch of Nueces River in Texas is 10 miles long     and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your camping stuff too. This is the only paddling stretch along Nueces River. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: Terry Hollow is in close proximity to Nueces River and is a wonderful place. Not much rain falls here at Nueces River;   of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain; the driest of the months is December. All through the long summer days highs here at Nueces River reach the 90's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's typically in the 60's. Throughout the wintertime highs are generally in the 50's, and nighttime lows in the 30's for Nueces River.
