Says Landowner If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Texas you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. This section of Nueces River is 10 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Edwards Real County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the     trip here worthwhile. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. The FM 335 to Barksdale stretch is the only paddling stretch along Nueces River. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other places for that. Briefly about the general area: Terry Hollow is a delightful site to check out close by. For the period of the long summer days at Nueces River highs are usually in the 90's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 50's with temperatures   at Nueces River dipping down into the 30's through winter nights. At Nueces River you don’t see much rain; the wettest month of the year is usually May, that's the one that rains the most; December on the other hand is the driest.
