Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Texas are easier than the national norm, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The Wm Cannon Dr E to R Moya Pk stretch of Onion Creek in Travis County is 5 miles long and is a class II-III(IV) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There are nice comfortable hotels here, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch has has enough mileage,     suitable for an afternoon trip. Onion Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Wm Cannon Dr E to R Moya Pk stretch is the only one. The campgrounds here at Onion Creek are pretty good. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Austin-Round Rock, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here.
