  The natural beauty of Summervell County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you won't find a large number of other places. No shortage of good hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very
    popular destination. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. Paluxy River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Somervell CR 1008 to Glen Rose Park stretch is the only one. This section of Paluxy River
in Summervell County is 10 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. If you're coming from Granbury it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so pack your sleeping bag.

Briefly about the general area:
A splendid place to check out in the neighborhood of Paluxy River is Wildcat Hollow; if you're dropping by from Granbury, you won't be the only one.
 
A common amount of rainfall falls here at Paluxy River; during the month of May you get the most rain around here, and December is when it's the driest.
Go for a hike on the Dinosaur Valley State Park Trail. For the duration of the summertime months highs here at Paluxy River reach the 90's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 70's. Daytime highs throughout the winter are in the 50's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Paluxy River.
