This section of Pecos River is 61 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II(III) section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are not so many other good places for that around here. River Marina section is the only paddling section along Pecos River. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit
| away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come.

Zixto Canyon is close to Pecos River and is positively a good place to stop by. High temperatures at Pecos River during the summertime are in the 90's.
