  The beautiful scenery of Val Verde County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that many of the rivers in this state are not very demanding. There's camping available near Pecos River. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. This section of Pecos
    River is 61 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II(III) section. A section like this is is of course not run in a single day, so better bring your camping gear along. Great exercise and
spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Del Rio, as you can see on the road map further down.

If you want a little side visit, try Zixto Canyon. While you're here at Pecos River you can take a hike along the Seminole Canyon State Park Trail. Throughout the warm months at Pecos River temperatures are frequently in the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 70's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 60's while the cold winter nights at Pecos River are in the 30's. Pecos River is a location that is relatively arid usually. September is when you get the most rain here, and January on the other hand is the driest.
