If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. This is one of a     small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. This stretch of Pedernales River is 16 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-IV section. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Briefly about the general area: From a precipitation point of view Pedernales River is a pretty common spot; May is when you get the most rain here while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. For the period of the warm months here at Pedernales River, high temperatures commonly get into the 90's, and the overnight is a bit cooler of course, usually in   the 60's. For the period of the wintertime the highs are commonly in the 50's with temperatures at Pedernales River dipping down into the 30's during winter nights.
